Two men charged after drugs and cash seized in Brighton vehicle stop
Two men have been charged after officers stopped a car believed to be involved in drug dealing in the Regency area of Brighton, Sussex Police have said.
According to the force, proactive patrols were being carried out in Brighton on 14 August when officers spotted a vehicle in Clarence Square being driven in a suspicious manner. Members of the public were seen approaching the car, getting inside, and leaving a short time later.
Officers observed further suspicious activity as the car travelled towards Grand Parade, and carried out a vehicle stop, detaining two men. Class A drugs and cash were seized from the vehicle, and the two men, aged 39 and 41, were arrested and taken into custody.
The charges
The following day, the Crown Prosecution Service authorised charges. Adam Powney, 39, of Honeybridge Lane, Dial Post, was charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug, and was remanded from court.
Mitchell Kinner, 41, of Saunders Park Rise, Brighton, was charged the same day with three counts of possessing a Class A drug and being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug. He has since been released on conditional bail.
Both men are due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on 11 September.
