IMJUSTBRIGHTON · EDITORIAL

Editorial
Standards.

How we report Brighton & Hove — independently, responsibly and with editorial control remaining with ImJustBrighton.

OUR APPROACH

Independent local journalism.

ImJustBrighton is an independent Brighton & Hove publication. We report on the city, its people, businesses, communities, events and the issues that matter locally.

Editorial control stays here. Final editorial responsibility rests with the editor and founder. Commercial relationships do not determine what we report or how we report it.
EDITORIAL CONTROL

We decide what gets published.

ImJustBrighton is independently operated. The editor is responsible for decisions about what stories are published, editorial presentation, headlines, accuracy, corrections and amendments.

Advertising, sponsorships and commercial relationships do not give advertisers control over editorial coverage.

A story may still be published when there is a commercial relationship with a person, business or organisation if the story is independently newsworthy.

Editorial decisions

ACCURACY & VERIFICATION

We check before we publish.

Information is checked against reliable material before publication. Press releases and material submitted by users or organisations are checked before they are used editorially.

Sources

We identify sources where appropriate and use responsible sourcing practices for local reporting.

Major & sensitive stories

Additional fact-checking may be used for major or sensitive stories, particularly police-involved reporting.

Submissions

User submissions and press releases are checked and verified before being used as editorial material.

REPORTING PRINCIPLES

Fair, direct and accountable.

03

Right of reply

People, businesses and organisations may be given an opportunity to respond when appropriate, particularly where allegations or significant criticism are involved.

04

Anonymous sources

Anonymous sources may be used when a source requests anonymity. Their identity will not knowingly be disclosed without permission.

05

Corrections

If a factual error is identified, we will correct the information. Editorial accuracy remains the priority.

06

Photography & video

Photos and video are published only where ImJustBrighton has permission or the appropriate rights to use them.

EDITORIAL PRODUCTION

Human reporting. No AI.

ImJustBrighton does not use AI to create its editorial articles. Reporting, editorial decisions, writing and publishing remain under human editorial control.

COMMERCIAL INDEPENDENCE

Advertising does not buy editorial control.

Sponsored and paid content is clearly identified. Advertisers and commercial partners do not decide what independent editorial coverage ImJustBrighton publishes.
