What Asurion has announced

Asurion, a technology care company based in Nashville, Tennessee, says the combination will help customers manage connected devices and appliances. It also expands Asurion's international presence and its position in the US appliance market, according to its completion announcement.

Financial terms were not disclosed in the release. Brighton and Hove News has reported the deal as being worth more than £2bn, but that figure does not come from the companies.

Our job at Asurion is simple: make technology work.

Guru Gowrappan, Asurion CEO

Domestic & General chief executive Matthew Crummack described the deal as a compelling fit and the start of a new chapter of growth.

Asurion says no near-term changes are planned to how either company serves its customers or partners.

What Domestic & General does

Domestic & General provides protection, maintenance and support for household appliances, working with retailers, manufacturers and independent businesses. Its partners include Whirlpool, Sky, Hoover-Candy and John Lewis, according to the original December 2025 announcement.

That announcement describes it as a business with more than 110 years of experience, serving the UK, Europe and beyond, with a repair network of more than 25,000 independent engineers.

How the deal came about

2 Dec 2025
Asurion announces an agreement to acquire Domestic & General from funds advised by CVC Capital Partners and Luxinva S.A., which is wholly owned by the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. Completion is expected in mid-2026, subject to regulatory approvals.
8 Oct 2026
Asurion announces the acquisition has completed. Domestic & General continues under its own brand as a business unit of Asurion.

The Brighton link

Brighton and Hove News reports that about 300 people work at Domestic & General's offices on New England Street, near Brighton station. Asurion's release does not mention Brighton or say whether the deal will change anything for staff in the city. Read the original report on Brighton and Hove News.
