Drum & Bass On The Bike returns to Brighton on Sunday 30th August
The bank holiday weekend just got a serious upgrade. Dom Whiting is bringing Drum & Bass On The Bike back to Brighton this Sunday 30th August, and the whole city is invited to join the rolling street party.
The ride sets off at 14:00 from The Level skatepark on Union Road, BN2 3HA. Anyone and any mode of transport is welcome, whether you are on a bike, a scooter, skates or just there on foot to soak up the atmosphere. You can grab the exact start point on Google Maps here, and as always you can bring your own speaker by hooking up to Dom's online livestream so the sound travels with the crowd wherever you are in it.
For anyone who has not seen one of these before, this is not your average bike ride. Dom pedals a custom electric cargo trike loaded with turntables, a mixing desk, speakers and a live-stream camera, DJing drum and bass while he rides. Support riders carry extra speakers rigged to a radio mast so the sound reaches the whole pack, and there are confetti cannons and coloured smoke going off at key points along the route. Hundreds of riders roll behind him, turning the streets into one enormous, joyful, moving dancefloor.

A Brighton favourite returns
Brighton has been on the Drum & Bass On The Bike map from the very start. Dom has run the ride for five years and, by his own count, has only missed the city once in that time, with previous editions drawing around 500 riders on routes weaving right through the centre. The 2023 ride, his third year running in the city, brought traffic to a happy standstill and could be heard streets away. Locals leaned out of windows, drivers tooted along in time, and the whole thing became a genuine Brighton summer moment.
This year lands squarely on the August bank holiday, so expect the biggest turnout yet.

Who is Dom Whiting?
Dom Whiting is the British DJ who turned lockdown into a global movement. Until 2020 he was a regular on the UK club circuit, but when venues shut during the pandemic he started livestreaming outdoor drum and bass sets from his bike. The idea caught fire. What began as a solo rider is now a travelling bike-rave that pulls thousands of people, with more than 800,000 followers across his channels and live streams watched by millions.
The rides have gone way beyond the UK, taking in Germany, Australia, Switzerland and more, but Dom keeps coming back to the south coast. Asked by ImJustBrighton why the city holds such a special place in the story, he gave us this exclusive comment.

Five years in, and Brighton has been there for nearly all of it. That loyalty runs both ways, with hundreds of riders turning out every time to welcome him back to the coast.
