How Game of Skate works
Skaters play knockout matches. They take turns to set a trick for their opponent to copy. Every missed trick earns a letter, and the first skater to spell SKATE loses the match. Winners go through the rounds to the finals in both age groups.
The organisers say the afternoon is the first Game of Skate held at the club. The knockouts run through the afternoon, with the semi-finals, finals and prize giving from 4:30pm for anyone short on time. The event finishes at 6:30pm.
How to enter
Skaters apply by posting a video. Film three tricks in a row on flat ground in one continuous clip, post it to your Instagram Story, and tag @theskateclubUK and @route_one_brighton. Parents or guardians can post on behalf of their children.
Entries close on Monday 2 November. The organisers plan to announce the selected skaters on Friday 6 November, eight per category plus two reserves each. There is a how-to-enter reel on Instagram showing exactly what is needed.
The prizes
Route One Brighton is the event partner and is providing prizes in both categories.
First place. Prizes worth over £150 in each category, including a £50 Route One voucher plus products.
Second place. Prizes worth over £75 in each category, including a £25 Route One voucher plus products.
The vouchers can only be spent at the Route One Brighton store.
Coming to watch
Spectators are welcome from 2:30pm. Tickets are planned at £1 and can be booked in advance or paid on the door, subject to space, through the club’s ticket link. Competitors get in free, and so do parents or guardians accompanying an Under 16 competitor.
The club says final admission details will be published once the venue and safety checks are signed off, so check the event page before you go. Street parking is available nearby.
