Brighton Poet Louise Taylor's Kew Gardens Poem Sown Together Leads to New Stanmer Park Workshop
Louise E. Taylor's Sown Together Experience workshop runs at One Garden, Stanmer Park, on 7 and 8 November
Brighton and Hove performance poet Louise E. Taylor is celebrating the publication of her poem Sown Together by Kew Gardens, and is using it as the starting point for a new two day performance poetry workshop at One Garden in Stanmer Park on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November 2026.
According to her press release, the poem began as a collaboration with multidisciplinary artist Titi Sodimu for the Grow Wild on the Railway project. Titi made a community quilt celebrating British flora and Louise wrote the poem. Both appear in Kew Gardens’ Grow Wild on the Railway booklet, and the press release says the art installation will be shown at Hove Railway Station later this year.

From a quilt to a poem
Grow Wild is Kew Gardens’ community project, and its on-the-railway page describes a partnership with Govia Thameslink Railway through the Your Station Your Community Improvement Fund. Louise’s press release says Sown Together was commissioned by Kew Gardens and Southern Railways. You can read more about the project on the Grow Wild on the Railway page.
“Sown Together brought together art, poetry, nature and community. The challenge of composing a poem that honoured Titi’s quilt and British flora was a unique experience. I am so thrilled to be part of this project and to be published. My workshop grew from that inspiration to enable others to discover what happens when words move from the page into performance through connecting with nature.”

The Sown Together Experience
The workshop is open to “poets, writers and the simply curious”, according to the poster. Louise says it gives people the inspiration, space and support to create their own performance poem, build their performance skills and recharge their creativity by connecting more deeply with nature.
What the listing says you leave with
Stanmer Park was recently recognised with a Green Flag Award, as we reported in Stanmer Park Green Flag Award 2026.
About the poet
Louise is known for a contemporary and humorous take on life, through her poetry, comedy monologues and creative leadership coaching. Alongside nature, she says she writes about love and loss, anxiety and encouragement, dangerous shoes and the perils of bikini line waxing.
Her first poetry collection, You Can’t Cook a Poem Like an Egg!, is available on Amazon, and she says a second, Ode to a Brussels Sprout and Other Leftover Poems, is on its way. She has performed on BBC, local and community radio and at festivals and spoken-word venues.
“Louise has a gift for bringing moments to life with warmth, humour and evocative language. She draws audiences in beautifully and always lifts spirits at our events.”
