Two men have been arrested after three men were reported to have had knives on a platform at Worthing railway station on the evening of Sunday 11 October 2026. British Transport Police (BTP) said the men left before officers arrived, according to Sussex News and The Argus. The two men, aged 18 and 22, were arrested on Tuesday 13 October and remain in custody.
When and where. Around 6.30pm on Sunday 11 October 2026, on a platform at Worthing station, West Sussex.
What was reported. Three men were reported to have knives. Video reportedly filmed from inside a train carriage and shared online appears to show them on the platform.
Arrests. Two men, aged 18 and 22, were arrested on Tuesday 13 October on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm and violent disorder.
Injuries. Police have not confirmed whether anyone was hurt.
Reference. BTP reference 543 of 11 October.
What police did
BTP attended after reports of a disturbance. The men had gone by the time officers arrived, and BTP, with help from Sussex Police, searched the area without finding them at that stage. The station was closed overnight and reopened on Monday morning.
Two days later, on the evening of Tuesday 13 October, the two arrests were made. Both men remain in custody while enquiries continue. Only two arrests have been reported, so it is not clear whether the third man has been identified.
A BTP spokesperson told The Argus: “Enquiries to identify all those involved in the incident are ongoing.” Detectives are keen to hear from witnesses or anyone with information. The circumstances leading up to the incident have not been explained.
Both men have only been arrested on suspicion. Nobody has been charged in the reports we have seen, and anyone arrested is presumed innocent unless a court finds otherwise.
