How the final tour was announced
The tour was announced in a press release dated 28 October 2025, published by the music site Arcana. It says Stephen “Mal” Mallinder and Chris Watson announced the Final UK Tour after a sold-out performance at the Sensoria Festival in Sheffield. The run was to start at Birmingham Town Hall on 10 October 2026 and finish at the Sheffield Octagon on 25 October, with Gazelle Twin as special guest on every date.
The release quotes Mallinder calling it a “wonderful opportunity to go round the block one more time”. It also looks back to the band’s live launch at the Sheffield Students Union Refectory on 13 May 1975, which it says the band’s 2025 tour marked as 50 years on. That 2025 tour included Brighton’s ACCA on 22 November 2025, listed in the release as sold out.
The Brighton date
The October 2025 press release listed the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill for 21 October 2026. The Chalk and Dice listings now carry that date at Brighton. We have not found a statement from the band or the promoter explaining the change. We have also not found an official account of the night itself, so this report does not describe the performance.
What happens next
The promoter’s page lists Sheffield’s Octagon on Sunday 25 October as the final date of the tour. It says the live set draws on the band’s early experiments, its Rough Trade and Factory releases, the Doublevision video label and work with the producers Adrian Sherwood and Marshall Jefferson, rebuilt with original technology and an element of improvisation. The page does not say whether Sheffield tickets remain.
