Brighton & Hove City Council has launched a set of new digital support resources for Get Online Week, to help residents get online, build confidence and learn new digital skills. The council announced them on 20 October 2026.

They are an updated digital support directory, a new interactive map of services across the city and a printable guide. Together they bring together digital drop-ins, one-to-one support and digital skills courses run by local organisations and community groups.

Why the council says it matters

The council says local reports and national evidence show that people on lower incomes, disabled people, older adults and people from ethnic minority communities can face additional barriers to getting online.

“Digital exclusion continues to affect many people. Whether it’s keeping in touch with family, booking a doctor’s appointment, applying for a job, managing money or simply finding information, digital skills can make a real difference to people’s confidence, independence and wellbeing.”

“We know that not everyone has had the same opportunities to get online, and for some people technology can feel overwhelming or out of reach. That’s why these new resources are so important. They bring together practical, local support in one place, making it easier for people who want to find help that suits their needs.”

Councillor Jacob Allen, Cabinet Member for Customer Services, Public Realm and Local Government

The council says the resources are part of wider work to improve digital inclusion in Brighton and Hove. Future developments will include information about free internet access points and support with accessing devices.
