Indian Summer on East Street in Brighton has a Christmas Feast for £39 per person: rice crackers and chutneys, a starter and a thali, as a meat, vegetarian or vegan feast, with gluten free options for all three.
The restaurant, which turned 25 this year and ran its £35 October Feast last month, describes it on Instagram as Christmas with an Indian Summer twist.

What is on the Christmas Feast
Every feast opens with rice crackers and chutneys, followed by a starter and then a thali. The menu marks all three thalis as containing nuts and says gluten free options are available for every feast.
Meat Feast
Starter: Onion and spinach bhaji, pani puri, Chicken 65 wings, achari chicken tikka and chutneys.
Thali (nuts): Butter chicken burrata, Champaran lamb shank sizzler, black dal, Brussels sprout poriyal, yakhni pulao, Indian breads and salad.
Vegetarian Feast
Starter: Onion and spinach bhaji, pani puri, Punjabi samosa, soya achari tikka and chutneys.
Thali (nuts): Veg kofta makhni, paneer 65 sizzler, black dal, Brussels sprout poriyal, yakhni pulao, Indian breads and salad.
Vegan Feast
Starter: Onion and spinach bhaji, pani puri, Punjabi samosa, soya achari tikka and chutneys.
Thali (nuts): Veg kofta makhni, gobi 65 sizzler, vegan black dal, Brussels sprout poriyal, yakhni pulao, Indian breads and salad.

The festive touches
Brussels sprouts, a fixture of the British Christmas table, turn up in every thali as a poriyal, a South Indian dry vegetable stir fry. Pani puri are crisp hollow shells filled with spiced water, and Chicken 65 is a spiced fried chicken dish from South India. The thali also includes a sizzler on each menu: lamb shank for the meat feast, paneer for the vegetarian feast and gobi, or cauliflower, for the vegan feast.

At £39 the feast costs the same as the regular Indian Summer Experience on the restaurant’s menus page, and £4 more per person than the October Feast, which included a welcome drink. Our October Feast report has the regular menu prices for comparison.
Scott’s Figgy Pop
The restaurant has also been showing off its new autumn and winter cocktails. On Instagram it introduced Scott’s Figgy Pop as one of them, “bringing something deliciously different to Indian Summer”.
In the restaurant’s video, the bartender builds the drink in a tall glass over ice and tops it with a slice of fig. He calls it fruity, warm and, dare he say, festive.

Where and how to book
