Queer Edge, a queer collective and creative coworking space that began in Hackney, east London, is opening a permanent home in Brighton with a launch party on Saturday 7 November 2026. It is based at Ironworks Studios, 30 Cheapside, Brighton BN1 4GD, according to a press release from the organisers.

Queer Edge Brighton is its first expansion beyond East London. The organisers say it will work as a coworking space by day and a programme of queer events by night.

What Queer Edge Brighton is

The organisers describe Queer Edge Brighton as a queer collective, creative coworking space and community events hub. The press release says the aim is to bring communities together through work and socials, with club nights, live music, panel discussions and performances alongside the coworking space.

Its website, queeredgebrighton.co.uk, is labelled coming soon and invites people to sign up for first access to memberships. The organisers say further information about memberships, facilities and upcoming events will be shared on Instagram at @qe_brighton.

Launch party and opening

The launch party takes place on Saturday 7 November 2026. The coworking space then opens to friends and family the following week, say the organisers.

The release lists hot desks, office space, conference rooms, a green screen studio, a podcast studio and performance spaces.

Ironworks Studios describes itself on its website as a multimedia event space and multi-purpose production space for the event and creative industries. The site says it is a few minutes’ walk from Brighton’s main railway station and near the headquarters of Brighton and Hove Pride, and that it is operated by Brighton Pride CIC, a not-for-profit organisation.

The spaces listed on the venue’s website include Studio A, Studio B with a cafe and bar, a Green Screen Studio and The Gallery, along with conference and meeting rooms and hot desk spaces.

Paul Kemp, who the release names as owner of Ironworks Studios, said:

“Brighton has a long and proud LGBTQ+ history, and it’s important we continue creating space where LGBTQ+ people can come together, not just to party but to get to know and support one another. What attracted us to Queer Edge is its community-first approach and its vision of bringing the local queer community together, through work and socials.”

Why it matters in Brighton

The organisers say the launch comes as Brighton has lost three LGBTQ+ venues this year: The Queery, R-Bar and Charles Street Tap. Our guide to the Brighton bar closures of 2026 covers each one.

Brighton and Hove has the highest percentage of LGB+ residents of any local authority in England, according to Brighton and Hove City Council’s summary of the 2021 Census. It says 25,250 people, or 11 per cent, gave their sexual orientation as LGB+.
