She is taking part in the charity’s Walk 100 Miles in October 2026 challenge, which runs from 1 to 31 October, as Breast Cancer Awareness Month is marked. Her JustGiving page now shows £1,002.25 raised, plus £225 in Gift Aid, from 35 donations.

Why she is walking

Rachel said she took on the challenge because of the number of lives affected by breast cancer, and the effect the disease has on families, friends and communities.

“They are mums and daughters, friends and colleagues. Someone loved. Someone lost.”

Her page says almost 1,000 people in the UK will lose their lives to breast cancer during October. Breast Cancer Now makes the same point on its challenge page. The charity’s vision is that by 2050 everyone affected by breast cancer will live and live well.

The money raised through the challenge will help fund the charity’s research and its support services for people living with the disease.
