University of Brighton podiatry student Arham Khalid has won Student of the Year at the 2026 Royal College of Podiatry Awards, as the university opens a new NHS clinic at its Falmer campus.

Two landmark moments in the £860 million modernisation of Brighton's Royal Sussex County Hospital took place on 22 May 2026. A new emergency helipad was officially opened and the foundation stone was laid for a new £250 million cancer centre serving 1.8 million people.
