Brighton and Hove City Council has reduced its median ethnicity pay gap to zero and made significant progress on disability pay equality, according to new workforce data published in May 2026.

One in four children in Brighton and Hove is living in poverty. The city has the highest homelessness rate in Sussex. A new independent review is recruiting residents with lived experience of poverty to sit on a panel and help shape real solutions. Applications close 19 June 2026.
