Brighton and Hove to Expand: Peacehaven, Telscombe Cliffs and East Saltdean to Join the City
The government has confirmed Brighton and Hove will absorb Peacehaven, Telscombe Cliffs and East Saltdean from April 2028, creating a council of 308,000 people. Lewes District Council is considering a legal challenge.
Theresa Fowler Appointed New Mayor of Brighton and Hove
Hollingdean councillor Theresa Fowler has been appointed Mayor of Brighton and Hove at the city council's Annual Meeting on 21 May 2026, taking over from outgoing mayor Amanda Grimshaw.
