Wellington House Day Centre Brighton: Council Votes to Close Last Learning Disability Service Despite Protests

Brighton and Hove City Council voted on 17 September 2026 to close Wellington House Day Centre, the last council-run day service for adults with learning disabilities in the city. Dozens of protesters gathered outside Hove Town Hall before the vote. The 21 current service users will be moved to external providers once individual transition plans are in place.
