Councillor Bella Sankey has written to the Home Office with eight specific demands after a Brighton hotel housing asylum-seeking women and families was announced for closure, with residents facing dispersal within weeks.

Brighton and Hove City Council has been awarded Council of Sanctuary status, recognising its commitment to welcoming refugees and people seeking sanctuary. Councillor Mitchie Alexander received the award at a Refugee Day ceremony at Jubilee Library on 20 June.
