Here are the facts from the police alert in one place, free to save and share.

Sussex Police said the burglaries took place on 24, 25 and 29 October. The force named three areas, Brighton, Portslade and Shoreham, and said the four homes were each lived in by a family of South Asian heritage.
Officers have said they do not want to cause unnecessary alarm. They said that by raising awareness of the incidents, people can take extra steps to improve security at home.
What Sussex Police has not said
The police alert is short, and several questions are still open. We are listing them so readers can see what is confirmed and what is not.
Where exactly. The release does not give the streets or say which home was targeted on which date.
Who was there. Police said the homes were occupied by families, but did not say whether anyone was at home at the time of each burglary.
Whether they are linked. The alert groups the four burglaries together but does not say whether police believe the same people are responsible.
Arrests and losses. The release does not mention any arrests, the number of suspects or the value of what was taken.
What Detective Inspector Duncan Lloyd said
Detective Inspector Duncan Lloyd said:

“While we do not want to cause unnecessary alarm, by raising awareness of these incidents, extra steps can be taken to enhance security at home.”
“Simple measures such as securely storing valuables, leaving a light on in the evenings, and checking doors and windows are properly locked can help reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime.”
“If you’ve witnessed any behaviour that stood out as suspicious, have any information to report, or if you believe attempts may have been made to enter your address, we urge you to come forward and contact police.”
