Albion Women beat Wolves 6-0 at the SEAH Stadium in Telford on Wednesday 28 October 2026 in the Subway Players’ Cup. Six different players scored, and the win lifted Albion into the competition’s play-off places, according to the club.
Head coach Arturo Ruiz made eight changes from the side that beat West Ham 3-0 in the Women’s Super League on Saturday, and the new faces helped dominate the WSL2 hosts from start to finish. Here is how the goals came, with what Ruiz said afterwards and what Albion play next.

First half: Hayes and Tvedten put Albion in control
Albion led after four minutes. Tvedten’s corner was met on the volley by Marisa Olislagers, the ball deflected into the path of Caitlin Hayes, and her close-range header looped over Wolves keeper Alex Brooks.
Albion kept up the pressure. Bex Rayner saw a close-range effort well saved, and Taylor Warren, making her first start, went close twice. On 34 minutes Hayes met a deep cross from Emily Murphy, but her header came back off the crossbar. Sophie Peskett’s run and low cross then found Emilie Joramo, whose first-time effort went narrowly past the post.
Albion made it 2-0 in first-half stoppage time. Olaug Tvedten picked the ball up on the left, cut inside and hit a 25-yard shot into the top corner.
Second half: three goals in 18 minutes
Albion started the second half at breakneck speed. On 47 minutes Warren’s cross was met by Peskett, whose first-time effort came back off the post, and Emilie Joramo was on hand to drill home. Two minutes later another Peskett run and cross was turned in by Taylor Warren, her debut goal for the club.
The fifth came on 65 minutes. Tvedten was brought down inside the box by Tammi George, and Emily Murphy sent Brooks the wrong way from the penalty spot. Late on, substitute Maelys Mpome, who also hit a post, rose to head in a Manuela Vanegas cross from a short corner for the sixth.
Albion line-up: Loeck, Auee, Hayes (Vanegas 60), George (Mpome 77), Peskett, Warren (Seike 66), Joramo (Symonds 60), Olislagers (Garcia 66), Tvedten, Rayner, Murphy. Unused substitutes: Nnadozie and Heeps.
What Arturo Ruiz said
Ruiz called it a “complete performance”, according to the club’s reaction page. He said the players who came into the side had shown what they can do:
“Players that are doing enough to be in the starting 11, now they demonstrated how they can play, how they can perform. I'm really happy for them because that competition level raises our collective level.”
Arturo Ruiz, Albion Women head coach
He said Warren is “very ready to play with us” and will have more appearances, and thanked the supporters who travelled to Telford midweek:
“I could hear them during the game, so thank you for coming here.”

Ruiz also said he was thinking of his country and the families affected by the train crash in Spain on Wednesday.
The Players’ Cup so far and what is next
The Players’ Cup, previously the Subway Women’s League Cup, now has a league phase followed by a knockout phase. Albion have played three of their six league-phase games, beating Charlton Athletic 4-0 and Wolves 6-0 and losing 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur. Their remaining games are at home to Watford on 11 November and away at London City Lionesses on 18 November and Southampton on 16 December.

Next up: Albion host Crystal Palace at Broadfield Stadium on Sunday 1 November, kick-off 2pm. Albion have won three of their last four games and scored 16 goals in that run, the club says. See every date to the end of the year in our Albion Women fixtures guide.
